Meet our Founder and General Moderator, Paulo Roberto Botelho Diniz [IMPRIMIR]
Born in the city of Niterói, Rio de Janeiro, on July 17, 1948, Paulo holds a BSc in Civil Engineering (1971) from Fluminense Federal University. He is married to Lívia Maria Diniz, a teacher and co-founder of Santos Anjos (Holy Angels) Community. They have two sons.
Paulo worked as an Engineer in the field of transportation until 2000. He was involved in various major Brazilian construction projects including highways, ports and airports.
Throughout his professional career Paulo held executive positions in several Engineering Consulting firms in the private sector. In the public sector, among other positions, he was the Undersecretary of Construction Works of the Government of Rio de Janeiro in 1996.
In the field of Academics, Paulo worked in technology research and also held the positions of Professor of Physics and Highway Infrastructure (Graduate level) and Technical Consultant at University of Rio de Janeiro.
Born and raised in a Catholic family, since childhood Paulo lived and had his faith inspired and cherished by his mother, a teacher and Elementary School Principal. He graduated from Santa Rosa Salesians High School, in Niterói, at a time when he acquired excellent formation and deeply experienced the love and friendship of God, Our Lady and the liturgy of our Church.
In the Church, particularly in the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Niterói, and always having his wife by his side, Paulo dedicated himself to the works of evangelization, including effective participation in pastoral, particularly Couples Encounter With Christ Retreats, and ecclesial movement activities. He was a core member of the Family Pastoral Archdiocesan Coordination Office. Starting in 1990 and for more than ten years thereafter, Paulo served as a preacher and teacher, as well as a member of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal (CCR) Archdiocesan Committee. He held the position of CCR Archdiocesan Coordinator from 2002 to 2004.
As the Founder (1993) and General Moderator of SANTOS ANJOS (HOLY ANGELS) Catholic Community, Paulo is a member of the New Communities Archdiocesan Committee and also a member of the Board of Directors of FRATER –”Fraternidade das Novas Comunidades do Brasil“ (Catholic Fraternity of Brazil.) He is an anointed and on-demand speaker at Regional and National Conferences in Brazil.
We were happy to welcome Paulo to his first visit to Calgary in June 2009, where he actively participated in the different areas of our apostolate. We look forward to his next visit!
